On Friday, July 20th, the Bandits will be making the journey to Dundas for the first time in the history of the club. Former Bandit chucker Drew Johnson is on the Dukes roster. Johnson was a key contributor for the Bandits on the mound and would continually take the ball in key games. Johnson is a lefty and the Bandits feature a lefty heavy lineup which potentially means the Bandits could for the first time in their history face a former Bandit player.
Drew Johnson appeared in 18 games for the Bandits during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Johnson posted an overall E.R.A of 5.59 over 74.1 innings striking out 46 hitters and posting a record of 5-6. Drew grew up in Bloomington and his father, Dave, was a youth coach for the Bloomington Gophers. Drew Johnson also appeared on the Bloomington A.A.U youth all star teams, Bloomington Gold and Bloomington Blizzard (each won state titles and went on to National Tournaments). Johnson is a crafty lefty with a plus pick off move. Johnson's stuff can keep hitters off balance all game and he certainly has the stuff to be a top of the staff pitcher.
The Bandits look forward to going south to Dundas and will enjoy the reunion with Drew Johnson.
